With 16 months left in office, here’s what Obama should do in Syria
Column published October 8th, 2015
In this column Ignatius' main argument is that with President Obama's remaining time in office, he should work to gather intelligence about ISIS, establish safe zones in Syria, and continue to insist that the Syrian President is removed from power. He organizes his argument by first providing background of the situation, introducing the question of what there is to do, an then providing his opinion on what should be done. Ignatius provides support for his argument by speaking on past events that could have been made better by following his plans. His argument is consistently strong throughout the entire column because all of his claims have logical explanations backing them and he comes off as well researched to the reader.
